Pro Abortion: Legal Conditions
Nearly 1.6 million abortions are performed in the United States each year, which means there is one abortion for every 100 live births. Abortion is classified as s premature exit of the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta from the uterus. It is the termination of a pregnancy. Abortion can happen naturally as in a miscarriage. Or it can happen when the women decides she no longer wants to continue her pregnancy and the embryo or fetus is killed and removed from the body. The heated debate continues stressing whether the laws in place are constitutional or not. The pro-life side is unified in stating that all humans, especially the innocent unborn future babies, have an inherent right to life and should not be denied that right under any circumstance. The pro-choice side is unified in stating that a fetus is not a human but rather a mass of tissue and if prior circumstances before birth affect the life of the unborn individual in the future, abortion is a choice considered by a woman. Abortion should be legal based on prior conditions such as a victim of rape or incest, prenatal tests that show evidence of diseases, and teenage pregnancies. In the case of rape and incest, nearly fourteen thousand abortions are given. Trauma victims of rape and incest feel strongly that ending their pregnancy provides relief from the traumatic events by allowing them to escape the nine months of remembering the violence committed against them. Giving birth to a child of incest or rape, leads to the child to live with a social stigma, resulting in abuse, rejection, or proper lack of care. Secondly, during the duration of the pregnancy, many tests can be performed to determine how health the child is. Right of Life of Michigan states, “A study from Wayne State University found that 87% of unborn children diagnosed with Down Syndrome were aborted. A review of studies in several countries showed 92% of unborn children who were diagnosed with Down Syndrome were aborted.” The reason for a parent’s choice of abortion is primarily based on the fact of not being able to provide the life the child requires. A survey organization known as Save the Children stated, “Annually 13 million children are born to women under the age of twenty and more than 90% in developing countries.” This would leave the parents of the child unable to continue their education, creating an unstable future without education and proper employment opportunities Pro- life supporters argue that is never okay to end a life because of prior conditions. Ronald Reagan once said, “I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion is already born.”But why should we have to support an unwanted child who will either be the memory of a traumatic story, live suffering, or be raised without the proper care. Abortion is a debated topic, but what will you decide if prior conditions play a role in your pregnancy?
